How to get there?
From Rome – Itri distance around 120 km, travel time around 100 minutes.
1. Take the SS 148 Pontina, once in Terracina take the SS 7 Appia towards Fondi, then continue towards Itri. Alternatively, from Latina it is possible to take the Via Appia and follow it up to Itri.
2. Take the A1 motorway towards Naples and exit at one of the following toll booths:
– Frosinone, take the road towards Latina after about 10 km take the freeway towards Terracina. Once in Terracina, take the Appia and continue towards Itri (quickest solution).
– Ceprano, take the SS 82 towards San Giovanni incarico, Pico, and then Itri (winding road but crossing characteristic villages, wooded areas and a panoramic view from Terracina to Gaeta).
– Cassino, take the highway to Formia. Once you arrive in Formia (about 40 minutes) take the SS 7 Appia and continue to Itri (easier solution).
By Train from Roma Termini
Itri has a train station on the ROME-NAPLES line, between the Fondi-Sperlonga and Formia-Gaeta stops.
From the official website of the railways, it is possible to consult the train timetable and purchase the ticket online.
The closest and most important stations are, as mentioned, those of Fondi-Sperlonga, which is about 13 km from Itri towards Rome, and that of Formia-Gaeta, which is 8 km from Itri towards Naples. Generally, if you are unable to get on or off in Itri, it is convenient to use the Formia station, better connected to Itri by public transport of the bus CO.TRA.L.

By Plane from Roma Fiumicino or Ciampino
It is not possible to arrive in Itri by plane as Itri does not have an airport.
The two closest airports are those of Rome Fiumicino and Rome Ciampino.
Once you arrive in Fiumicino or Ciampino, you need to reach the Roma Termini railway station by taxi, bus or train.
Once in Roma Termini,you can take the train to Itri or to the nearby stations.

Itri is a small town halfway between Rome and Naples. Surrounded by nature, it is loved by tourists because it offers both sea and mountains (the nearest beach is 10 minutes by car – instead 49 minutes by car are enough for a walk in the mountains). La Montagna Spaccata – 18 Min. by car
The road cuts through the hill which has a perfect semicircular shape, similar to an immense natural apse of 900 m in diameter. It is in fact the edge of one of the volcanoes of the Campi Flegrei, a crater that has only half been preserved, whose eruption (called the “Montagna Spaccata eruption”) took place between 10,500 and 8,000 years ago.
Terracina – 35 Min. by car
Terracina is an Italian city and comune of the province of Latina, located on the coast 56 km (35 mi) southeast of Rome on the Via Appia (76 km, 47 mi, by rail). Known by tourists for its long and beautiful beaches.
Santuario della Madonna della Civita – 19 Min. by car
The view from the square of the sanctuary is remarkable: the most important peaks of the western sector of the Aurunci are recognizable: Monte Trina, Monte Faggeto, Monte le Pezze, Monte Le Vele, Monte Ruazzo, Monte Orso, Le Rave Fosche, Monte Cefalo, Monte Carbonaro and in the distance Mount Orlando and Mount Circeo.
Sperlonga – 22 Min. by car
Sperlonga is a coastal town in the province of Latina, about halfway between Rome and Naples. It is known for the ancient Roman sea cave discovered in the grounds of the Villa of Tiberius containing the spectacular Sperlonga sculptures.
Costiera Amalfitana – 2 H and 35 Min. by car
The Amalfi Coast is a stretch of coastline on the northern coast of the Salerno Gulf on the Tyrrhenian Sea, located in the Province of Salerno of southern Italy.
